Following requests for a number of new league set-ups and due the demand by several players for a more competitive league, I am pleased to announce the launch of MaddenPFL's "Big Money" league.

 

This is a new format league that will see the Super Bowl winner take a cash prize.

 

Any member can join the league and teams are allocated on a first come first serve basis. There is an entry fee of £10 (a new subscription page will be available soon). All the money collected will be used with 75% going to the winner and 25% to the site to cover Admin expenses.

 

Due to the anticipated highly competitive nature of this league, it will be played as per Madden Nation tourney rules - in other words there will be no rules.

 

We expect a high demand for this league and am sure it will be a great success. Pay to Play is no doubt the way forward for the site and we expect this format to extend to all leagues eventually.

Whilst I think this tournament is a great idea (although I won't be taking part), what happened to your earlier guarantee that the site will never become pay to play?

Think you'll massively shoot yourselves in the foot if you do that to all leagues, whilst there are people who are willing to pay, I imagine there will be many who are unwilling (or possibly even unable) to pay.

I'd be very disappointed if that is implemented tbh...

I'm quite sure that it would only be a a certain event that is pay for play otherwise I'm out also.

With spiralling costs we need to find a way to sustain and pay-to-play is the only way forwards. I expect that we will be implementing it for all leagues as well as NHL and NBA. Should sort the wheat from the chaff.

I have considered it for the xpress in the past

If I charge £5 per team per season, that's £160 every 10 or so weeks

I'll have the new xbox in no time!

How excactly are the costs spiralling? I know the site costs money to run, but when you setup 'Support MaddenPFL', you said you needed 12 or so members to cover costs, you have more then double that... The admins getting paid or something? :lol:

As an accountant I to would be interested in this, whilst I think this is a good idea for a segment of the community I hope it doesn't disenfranchise the community here as you have built a great community

Granted being honest I'd find it hard to pay £30 for one league and £20 for another every year and as such that money is generally used on my daughter as of now I do understand why the idea would come about.

Websites are expensive beasts in this day and age though itd be a great shame if I was no longer able to play in the league...

Life keeps getting more and more expensive haha :)

I am not happy about this. Can anyone tell me why Rigglar can justify him getting 15% and me only 10% of the Admin fee?
