Try going back to basics. Turn off heatseeker and just move your defender to the runner, there is no actual tackle button. Don't use hit stick or press x, just the left stick to get them in position
On returns, take control of a plate early and hold them back, then when they go around the side there is you and the kicker to block off the angle
