MaddenPFL rules

The gameplay rules have been revised to account for the fair catch glitch when returning a punt and to address an issue where players have been using audibles to line up players in unrealistic positions.

A specific example is a player coming out in a Quarters 3 Man Deep formation and changing to a 3-4 formation before the defense gets to the line. This results in a safety on the line where a DE should be and the DE dropping back to a LB position. This can result in an exploit and is not in the spirit of the game.

Also, there have been a number of complaints raised about players dropping the QB back off the line. Please refer to rule 10.

You can raise any questions you have here, or PM your league commissioner.

Ad. 11) Moving in a WR or TE as a blocker

I understand that this is banned on running plays. But what about lining up in an empty set, and then moving in a TE as pass blocker?

I had this in my first PFL game and buncey was kind enough just to punt the ball on his next play for a touch back.... also had this in an xpress game and just carried on as muffed punts do happen... pretty hard one to judge.. suppose common sence kicks in.

No problem with this, mate.

If I'm just outside my kickers range on 4th and 1/2, can I go for it if I let my opponent know? :g:

you are not allowed snap the ball while the manually motioned player is still moving between the tackles - i.e. you cannot motion a player behind the line to use as an extra run blocker.

That is from the rulebook. It probably should be simply "blocker" not necessarily "run blocker"

So in the case above you can motion the TE but you are not allowed snap the ball while he is still moving between the tackles. You must wait until he passes the tackle if he is moving from one side to the other.

You can however motion the TE to where he sets in the backfield, you just must wait until he sets, simply he cannot be moving.

@ Buncey. Yes you can.

What are the rules for 4th down conversions? Have they been decided?

I'd love it to be "be sensible", but alas it can't be ;)

Question...

I know the debate on low arc punts has been done and understand the rational behind it but I have to ask...

If I'm punting from my opponents half and looking to drop it inside the 10, is it ok to low arc punt direct to the sidelines? It would have no chance of being muffed by the returner as 100/100 times it takes one bounce and is out of bounds

Discuss..........

What would be the benefit of punting it low rather than high in this situation though?

If it was 100% going to go out of bounds without risk of being muffed then I'd say I have no issue with it (And I mean 100%). However I can't see why you would prefer a low punt rather than high punt in this situation.

If it ever was muffed doing this, you'd have to give possession back in my opinion.

A low angle punt will help the ball to bounce further towards the opponents endzone as opposed to it bouncing up from a normal punt. Think about skimming a stone vs. just throwing a stone.

That said, if you are in your opponents half, surely all punters have the leg power to put it out around the 10 from a normal punt?

Yeah, get in the practice arena. There are ways of achieving this by punting high with the same sort of accuracy as a low punt and minus the chance of it being muffed and called cheese.

Think you just need to practice doing it another way to be honest mate.

I just find it more accurate when punting low, nothing more than that

Low arcs were always a bit cheesy in my opinion.

It NEVER let the returner field the ball and would easily bounce 15 yards up the field along the ground. If someone hit a low arc punt in a game, it'd be fielded by the returner and he would have a massive chance in burning it up field.

I just find the 10 yard line by punting high. That way if you miss it there is still a chance of your coverage getting there.

yeah I get you, just I'm not as accurate with the high punt, most times I angle it wrong and shoots into the EZ

Why not angle it as a low punt and then just rise it up?

Punting is one of the most successfulparts of my game imo (get plenty of practise). Love a nice high punt from between my 40 and their 45...

With the amount of picks I'm throwing, punting is not relevant at the moment
