Madden 16 - Pro 10 - NFC Recap
The NFC East has been an interesting division this year. As many predicted when the league was drawn up it was always going to be a showdown between Keanoo & RamsDan and this budding rivalary hasn't failed to dissapoint.
These two coaches hold nothing back and there seems to be a real need to win from both coaches as they look to beat each other. However this season it must be said Keanoo was in top form and was good enough to secure the 2nd seed in the NFC. However Ramsdan on the final day was able to snatch one of the wildcard spots.
Keanoo features one of the top rank defences in the league 2nd behind AFC Leading Texans. Complemented by one of the best run stuffing defences we have seen. However for Keanoo the question in the back of his mind will be can he overcome RamsDan after losing to him in his last game if he does face him in the playoffs, or will he have to overcome BTG whose Falcons were able to have a successful offence against this defence in the early days
RamsDan is looking to retain his title but it has been a tough road this season with some unlucky losses and early struggles with this Skins team. However the win against Keanoo a few weeks ago looks like a season defining win. The big problem for Dan is can he win the games when they matter with this team. Its going to take a lot of big catches by Desean thats for sure.
P4ddy finishes the season in 3rd with a so so record it was going to always be tough for him here, however don't discount his record each week he puts up a good fight and its only a matter of time before P4ddy turns this around, with a bit more luck I expect him to be like Volki next season.
Onto our second division which also put another wildcard entry through in Mattm with Pacfish winning the division.
Pacfish started quick out of the blocks and looked like the surprising contender early on but has slowed down lately. However with Gurley he has been a nightmare to stop and many expect this nightmare to continue for the next 3 seasons. I'm sure Pacfish would like nothing more than to finally get his first bowl win. I think it is quite possible as he always seems to cause a few surprises. I can definately know that RamsDan wants to avoid Pacfish who after a few losses has to be his kryptonite. Pacfish is this writers dark horse to win the NFC.
Mattm - what a turn around Matt had this season after starting the season 1-4 he has been able to turn things around to grind out a wildcard spot. However the one call for concern has to be his form coming into this game. Losing to Pacfish last week, losing to the Lions the week before must be calls for concern. However the 49ers like the Rams have one of the effective run games in the league finishing within the top 5 rushing attacks in the league. However with that success there has been 9 fumbles lost and it has hurt the 49ers Takeaways Diff with -4. Matt will need to make sure to control the ball in the playoffs or he could be in a trouble. I would also be interested to see how he improves this team as there are still plenty of holes. But he deserves a lot of credit getting into the playoffs here.
Zoso found himself in a bit of a hole, but don't discount him going forward a lot of his losses were due to sims due to other committments. Zoso has always been a contender and I fully expect by Season 2-3 we are talking about his Cards going all the way to the NFC Champ game and possibly recapturing that Superbowl he had a few seasons back. With a good placing in draft picks the only way is up!
Bos, joins the Seahawks who have arguably one of the most talent laden rosters. However with no scouting of the draft available it is going to be extremely interesting to see what the Hawks do. Do they go out and get big players or do they gamble. Either way one thing to keep an eye on is that cap space.
Like a phoenix out of the Ashes Dookie has arisen back and more powerful than he was a few Maddens back. The Chemistry he has developed in Detroit has seen Calvin Johnson go crazy with over 2k yards and 21 TDs! Also an average yards per a catch of 24.3! When this man passes to Calvin everyone was getting burnt. Its great to see Dookie come back after issues with the Chargers last year and he looks set to defend the NFC North for the next few seasons.
However for Dookie his first matchup in the playoffs against RamsDan is going to be a tough one, can he pull out the miracle. One things for sure if Calvin gets the ball Ramsdan will prob end up breaking a controller!
Just missing the playoff cut on the last day is Volki who finished with what has to be his best record in the Pro 10/Xpress. Finishing 8-8 which is fantastic since he started the season 2-5. However with big wins over Bunce and co. With a league leading 40 Passing TDs and not to mention one of the most efficient redzone offences converting a score 92% of the time. I think it is safe to say Volki has improved leaps and bounds and is going to be a force. Add in a few more features on the defence and he could be set to get into the playoffs next year. You have to believe that has to be his goal.
JA15 had one of the best starts but it fell away after week 4 after winning 4 straight to start the season he would only win 2 more games. However he would get hit by some big injuries which would affect him Jay Cutler being the big one. Also some other injuries on defence such as McPhee. For JA15 he has to be one of those players to watch next season as if he improves a few areas on the Bears Defence and comes back the way he started and with no injuries he could be challanging the NFC North. Watch out for him!
McManus had a season to forget but there were large periods where he was either too drunk to play, or on holiday. But lets not rest on this Paddy he has a talented roster and is a proven winner after winning the UKML last year. The scary thought for the rest of us, his going to get a high draft pick and then we are going to be screwed! However thankfully he will still be too drunk to play most night so there might be a few easy wins for most of us.
BTG and his falcons got off to one of the most impressive starts getting big wins against Keanoo, RamsDan, Evo & being the only coach to beat Kingjimi this season. However the wheels started to come off for the Falcons following the season ending injury of Julio Jones.
However some changes on the offence and introduction of Hardy & Fowler to the WR corps have kept the Falcons right up there and with the no 1 seed in the NFC and the 4th ranked offence in the league they are arguably the favorite to get into the Superbowl. However we have seen BTG is beatable and without his weapons in the recieving game can easily be stopped.
Buncey came into the season with expectation of reaching the playoffs as a minimum you have to believe, however he let that slip through his fingers, losing the last 2 games to the Falcons and Bucs effectively knocked him out. However keep in mind this Panthers team has so many good pieces there isn't much to add perhaps with some improvements to the defence on the DB's this Panthers team could be unstoppable next year.
Stuey has become a bit of giant killer the last few weeks beating the Falcons & Rams and knocking Buncey out of the playoff race. Stuey was able to get his team to run one of the most effective offences in the league and after finishing the last 5 games with 4 wins you have to think that Winston is going to light up the league next year. However it is necessary for this Bucs team to add pieces as outside of the key playmaking spots there are holes aplenty.
Finally Winti struggled this year, however the Swiss wonder had to anticipate this with the trade of Brees causing plenty of disruption. However the one positive was the 2-0 series win against the Bucs. You have to feel this is laregly going to be a rebuilding project in NO however Winti has proven he is a good mover of the ball and can get big stops. With some key acquisitions over the next few seasons I think we can expect Winti to be a big contender in Season 3-4.
BTG's Final Word
So we are left with 6 teams in the NFC to duke it out for that last spot. Assuming the Falcons are the no 1 seed and the Eagles no 2. I predict the outcomes to be.
Redskins defeat Lions
Rams defeat 49ers
Falcons defeat Redskins
Rams defeat Eagles
Falcons defeat Rams
Of course there might be a slight bit of writers bias here but I would love to here your predictions share them below!
