Madden 16 - Pro 10 - AFC West Preview
Tripperman - San Diego Chargers
Did we really expect Tripperman to go anywhere other than his Chargers with the 4th overall pick? Although some may say that they went too was too high, there is some exceptional talent on this team to make Tripper and his Chargers a threat from the start.
Keenan Allen WR - Allen is the number one receiver on this team and has great catch ratings. The sure handed Allen can also get away from the defenders with ease and find himself in open space to make big plays.
Brandon Flowers CB - Another great corner in this division is Flowers. The 7 year veteran has great coverage skills and will be tasked with covering the opponents number one wide outs. Flowers is a smaller corner, at just 5'9, but is physical at the line and can go toe to toe with receivers.
Eric Weddle FS - Weddle is as elite as any safety in the league. He is a punishing tackler and is a great last line of defense for the Chargers. He is in the last year of his contract with the Chargers, so will Tripper stay with the 30 year old vet at safety, or move on like in the real NFL?
Dan McGrath - Kansas City Chiefs
As shown in my Announcement post, I had a really difficult time deciding whether i should go with my beloved Ravens (who somehow fell to pick 14), or go to a team which has elite under-rated talent like the Chiefs. In the end, I went for the Chiefs as I will have a whole host of playmakers on both sides of the ball.
Key Players -
Jamaal Charles HB - Charles is quick, can evade tacklers and break big runs at any time. He's not going to run over anybody, but its probably not a good idea to use a hit stick tackle on him, as he will likely juke and spin away from any contact.
Travis Kelce TE - A reliable tight end that can make those tough chain moving catches, Kelce will likely become Alex Smiths go-to receiver. Smith doesn't have the most powerful arm, so check downs to Kelce may be plentiful.
Justin Houston LOLB - I love having a outside rusher with unstoppable power moves, and Houston is the best of the best. Last years near record breaking season made the Madden team take notice of Houston and gave him a ridiculous 98 power move and 96 block shed. Armed with a new 6 year contract, he's going to be a main stay on this defense for the entire franchise.
Rainbow Doc - Denver Broncos
One of the biggest surprises in the team draft was the highly rated Denver Broncos falling way down the list for RainbowDoc to pick up. Was it the ageing Peyton Manning and threat of retirement every year? Was it the big contracts that need to be handed out to key players like Von Miller and CJ Anderson? Whatever the reasons were, I'm sure RainbowDoc is extremely happy to use this team during the franchise.
Key Players -
Peyton Manning QB - Peyton's old, and he might only have one more year left in the league. But for at least the first season Doc can know for sure that he has an elite quarterback at the helm. Peyton can still throw darts all over the field, and there might be one more playoff run in it for the 17 year veteran.
Demaryius Thomas WR - One of the best wide receivers in the league, defenders will need to make sure that they find ways to limit Thomas' production as he can take over a game all by himself. With excellent catch ratings and the ability to break tackles, Thomas is going to be a go-to receiver in this offense all franchise long.
Von Miller LOLB - Miller is an excellent rusher and a very under rated cover linebacker. With a top end 99 Finesse Move and strong block shedding, the offensive line will have their hands full with Von Miller coming at them full speed.
Chris Harris Jr CB - With a 94 OVR rating, he is part of a deadly CB tandem alongside Aqib Talib. Both of these guys can lock down receivers and make it incredibly hard on the opponent offense.
TJ Cullingham - Oakland Raiders
TJ had immense success with the Raiders in last years franchise, and will be looking to do the same again this year. While more of a project team with quite a few holes to fill, the Raiders could be a big surprise. If anyone is able to bring this team to a competitive state quickly, TJ is the coach to do it.
Key Players -
Amari Cooper WR - The Raiders picked up the 'Bama stud receiver with the 4th overall pick in the draft and he has all the tools to be TJs go-to guy all franchise long. With great speed and great catching, Cooper looks like he could progress to be one of the best receivers in the game.
Latavius Murray HB - Murray is a young speed back with flashes of Jamaal Charles. With a strong, truck move, stiff arm and spin moves, look out for Murray as he can bowl right over defenders.
Khalil Mack RE - Mack was one of the best rookies in the NFL last year and is an excellent pass rusher and run stopper. I fully expect TJ to continue developing Mack into one of the leagues best defenders.
