Throughtout the 4 seasons of the NFC North we have seen 1 conference winner and argubly the biggest trade in Xpress History and one of the most competitive divisions with the quality improving each season.
Chicago Bears - JA15
Joe and those Bears the same team he had in then last version and I'm sure he was glad he no longer had Ultra and his pesky Lions to worry about. This time it was Sovoth and his Lions but Joe has been one of those players this year that has really developed into a quality player and has made a remarkable transformation as his offence and defence are very good. This saw him take the Bears to the playoffs multiple times and most recently to a divisional win and the divisional round where they pushed the Saints all the way. When you think this team suffered issues with retirements and free agency losses Joe has done incredibly well and has had a massive improvement from the player who finished Madden 13 to 25. However I think the one thing Joe needs to improve on is his Clutch some may even compare his clutch rating to that of Peyton Manning as the amount of OT games he lost this season was incredible. However I think in the next season of the Xpress he could be one to watch out for and it looks likely that he will move away from the Bears as well, just as they are coming good as well.
Green Bay Packers - Dr Volki
Since joining the Xpress; Volki is argubly the player that has improved the most, whilst he doesn't have a playoff apperance to his name his most recent showing is a solid reason for all those who struggle at the game to stick with it. Volki was able to defeat Sovoth a former NFC Champ twice this last season and recorded some impressive results elsewhere. This is a great improvement from a player who was known as that Geman who can't stop the run game as he allowed McCoy to rake up some crazy yardage only a few seasons ago. Volki has turned around his defence with a lot of work and seems to have a greater understanding as a result. Volki may not be that guy whose going to win a division every year but he is likely going to be that guy next season whose going to make you work for every win and even steal a few games. Going into next season I think Volki would put himself into a position to get his first playoff apperance.
Detroit Lions - Sovoth
Sovoth was in the league for a large majority of the league and I feel it is only fair for him to have his little highlight here as well. Sovoth is another one of those players who I think has improved he finished last year as a consistent playoff performer who couldn't get over the hump so to speak. This year he went out made big trades getting Graham and upgrading the defence really well with some great acquisitions such as Irvin. I like to think Sovoth persevence paid off this most recent version as he got into his first Superbowl only to fall short of the mark. But with Mark announcing his return to the league he will be one of the names that is likely to be one of the harder players to stop.
Minnesota Vikings - Aje
Lastly we have Aje who was in the league for a majority of the year only leaving as his XBL expired. Aje in this version has been a constant yo yo in motion this version. He started as that guy who would keep running with AP to the guy who kept passing to the outs. But still Aje is another one of these guys who was a constant thorn in the sides of many. He was able to stick with anyone for most part and was largely effiecient throughout with his passing plays causing pains and AP just being that general pain in the proverbial backside. It is sad to see Aje leave the Xpress as he has been in the league for a long time but I'm sure if he does decide to come back he will be welcomed back and will continue to be a pain not just because of his quality but because how much of a pain in the ass it is to play him and his university connection! with that dodgy router!
The next division sees us head South. This division was the only division where all four original members remained to the bitter end. The division saw three different divisional winners which was a big difference to what everyone predicted in the initial write up last august. Additionally the division has seen the rise of a new great player with Trimmer winning the coach of the year and been a constant in playoffs.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers - MixTrimmer
MixTrimmer joined the leagues as that guy who didn't even know the rules but still found a way to win. He would be that guy who would shout "BOSH" after every big Mark Barron hit and was a constant threat no matter who he played. Trimmer would win the division once in this version but caused a hell of a bang as he would push whoever he was playing to their limits. With Doug Martin and rookie Korie Tucker he proved to be a threat consistently in the air and ground. At the end of this version you have to think that Trimmer is going to be one of the harder guys to beat next year as he has improved each season in both aspects of the game and to think this guy has finally understood what his doing is a worry cause he might have a great chance of going that next step next season. Expect him to be a constant threat next year.
Carolina Panthers - Joe
When Joe chose the Panthers last season I'm sure he didn't expect it to go like this. I think it was quite clear he just didn't get on with the team for whatever reason perhaps it was the WR's or the CB's but the fearless leader couldn't function overly well. Despite this he would still go on to win the division in the 1st season and would get to the divisional round. But I'm sure one thing that is sure for next season is Joe is going to find a way to get away from that F'n aussie thats in his division and if he needs to rig the draft or the dance off to do so he will make sure its done. Going into the next version I do believe Joe will find his form of old and could get back to his best.
Atlanta Falcons - Paddy
Paddy was one of the first to pick his team and I don't think anyone could say he picked badly because coming into the game the Falcons certaintly looked like one of the best teams on paper. However Paddy couldn't get things to work out for him no matter what he tried he would either get big injuries when things got going or would get the worse luck possible. Paddy however credit to him stuck in there to try to turn things around and it often looked like he wasn't far away but I think he must've slept with an EA Executive misses as the amount of Madden luck that would go against him in games you knew someone had a problem with him. However should Paddy decide to stop sleeping around with Donny Moore and Josh Looman's partners perhaps he could look at improving and finally getting away from the curse that has plaged him for the last season.
New Orleans Saints - Beyond The Game
The following write up has been provided by Joe:
Cam calls himself 'The Aussie Peyton Manning', I call him 'The Aussie Dan Marino' as realistically he's the best coach to have not won the Xpress Superbowl yet. I'm sure even he would admit that he tried to change too much too soon, ripping out the spine of his defence to switch it from 3-4 to 4-3. In season 1 he was eclipsed by the suave and amazingly good looking coach of the Panthers who won the division on a 3 way 8-8 tiebreak. The shame was too much and unfortunately once word got out BTG was forced to flee Jersey in shame. He fled to his native Blackpool where he stayed for 3 weeks over the festive season, luckily he managed to bag himself the part of Ugly Sister #2 in the world famous Blackpool Winter Gardens pantomime. By the time he returned, he had missed so many games that Bradley Wiggins (coach of the Buccs) had stolen the division away. Thankfully things picked up from that point and he won the division in seasons 3 & 4 as his young players found their feet, as we go to press he is due to meet RamsDan in the NFC conference game while Perrin awaits in the SuperBowl. Can he finally do it? Time will tell, but whatever happens he will be back for Madden15 albeit far far away from Joe
The NFC West has been one of the most fascinating divisions to watch with arguably the most competitive divisional rivalary in the leagues between Zozo and RamsDan. The NFC West also produced its first non irish winner in Zozo and 2 of the 3 conference winner this year. Also lets not forget the TRADES that have come from this division weather it would be Hubble and his pick chart or Scotty and his 9ers trades or Zozo building argubly the best team via trading this division LOVED to trade.
Arizona Cardinals - Zozo
Not much was known about Zoo coming into this season he was one of those guys who was a good player but nothing else was really known about him. This season he solidfied his ability to be a threat and a bit of an ace when it came to team building through trading. Zozo in Season VII would go onto become the first Non Irish winner as he would overcome Evo in a classic his playcall on both the defence and offensive side of the ball would prove remarkable. Also the amount of time he would put into scouting his opposition would pay off I remember a certain youtube video being removed so Zozo couldn't study it further. But aside from the gameplanning Zozo would go in and build argubly one of the best defences in the league with Aldon Smith, Daryl Washington proving to be a pain and excellent corners of Van Dyke (Can't believe I'm typing this) and Peterson. Going forward I think Zozo will be one of those guys people will want to avoid having in their division as his highly likely to be the sort thats going to have a gameplan not to just win but to stop you to based on your tendencies.
St Louis Rams- RamsDan
RamsDan joined midway through the Xpress as GovernedSpy kid would break his disc yet again. This new guy though would make a splash in the Xpress big time in his first season Dan would go to the Superbowl but would fall short against Evo in the snow. He would then get to the playoffs each season but would constantly fall short in the NFC Championship game and Divisional rounds and would somewhat become the guy who was always the bridesmaid never the bride. Although with this said he does have a chance at going that extra step this week but that remains to be seen. Other than his ability to lose in the big ones he has proved to be a threat at every turn and has dominated many teams this year with his exceptional offence led by a rookie QB and great playcall on both sides of the ball. I believe Dan is going to be one of those guys who is likely to be a constant contender in the future versions and is likely to win a Superbowl sooner rather than later. But I believe it just further proves my point the Xpress is one of the hardest leagues to win.
Seattle Seahawks - Hubble
Hubble is known as many things in this league such as the trade guy, the value chart guy and that old guy. Hubble has been one of the players that has constantly been improving his game and he has put up some good stats although sometimes he does show his age as he would forget to wear his glasses and throw some outrageous picks which Shatners would be proud of. But with this said Hubble has gone on to manage one of the hardest teams to manage cap wise and has been able to hold onto most of the core players and improve where needs to. Unfortunately Hubble won't be joining the Xpress next season so we will all have to make do without his advise on the value chart or his constant trade threads. But I do hope he rejoins as he is one of the more valuable members of the Xpress and has constantly improved his game each season with some big wins against high caliber opponents.
San Francisco 49ers - Rizzo
Lastly we have Rizzo who had only recently assumed control of the 49ers. Based on a few of the games I've played with Rizzo he has a lot of potential and plays high quality football. He started with a team that whilst still good on defence had lost prob a lot of its offence and you could see his struggles on the offensive side of the ball as he had to make do with a 2nd year QB and luckluster recievers and running backs. However I do believe with a chance to build his own team Rizzo could be one of those hard to beat players (basically your typical Irishmen)
Last of all we have the division that was argubly the most captivating of all the divisions. We had the CHEESE fest known as McAttack, we had The Rise and Fall of the Ego, RG "I'm better than you" 3 and lastly the continous merry go round of injuries for the Lordship.
Washington Redskins - Mister Rourke
Rourke started the Xpress as one of the unknown joining late into the last edition, but this year he really showed off his ability. He would lead the Skins to a remarkable season in the final season of Madden 25. With RG3 proving to be perfect for most part except the playoffs and one of the toughest defences in the league. What made Rourke such a challange was he timely offensive playcall his mixture of the read option was near perfect as he wouldn't over use it but you would still have to keep it in mind it would come at any time and thats often when he caught you slipping and RG3 was running 80 yards for pay dirt. I think Rourke has put himself in the conversation for MaddenPFL most improved/best newcomer with the performance over the last 4 seasons. One of the highlights being the MVP season of RG3. Going forward I think Rourke is likely to be a challange for all teams with his effective offence he still has some improvements to make to his game but he is likely to make a lot of waves next season. One would like to think that should Mister Rourke ever win the Xpress he would rank it above his achievements of climbing Everest or the equivlent to it.
Dallas Cowboys - Buncey
His Lordship Buncey has had a campaign I'm sure he would prefer to forget. Firstly he was the Lord of the injury I don't think there was a season where one of his big name players didn't get injured it would range from Romo, Murray, Manning and even one of his best rookie WR would get injured. Sure Bunce would get to win the division a few times, but the fact that he lost it to Phil must burn him inside not to mention the fact he still can't beat Sovoth must hurt. However Buncey has had some good highlights this season none better than beating Ramsburgers in his return game with a last second TD. Going forward I think Buncey is going to push for playoffs as always, can he go that extra step though? He needs to get praying to the madden gods that injuries aren't going to happen so frequently that would be the best start.
New York Giants - Ramsburgers
Whilst Sam was only in the league for a short time he made more of an impact than Steff did. As a matter of fact Steff was spotted in the vallies herding some sheep in the middle of the night which I thought was rather strange. However upon speaking to a few other welshmen I was actually told it is a regular thing the Welsh do. I'm just thankful I wasn't put in the paddocks whilst I was in Wales last year with Steff. Nonethless Sam would join the Xpress and introduce the league to the EGO! He would make do with a team that hadn't performed well and turned them around to a playoff contender. Unfortunate for Sam his downfall would come at the expense of the Swiss Raiders who would stop the run then speaking of Cheese the biggest cheesemonger in history would end Sam and his reign of terror. Sam won't be joining the Xpress but with the turnaround this TE Streaking whore has made in the last year its been incredible soon he will progress to the HB Wheeling whore, oh wait he is already there.
Philidelphia Eagles - Riverman
Lastly we have King Cheese, the McAttack with a whole heap of extra chedder. Riverman gave the Xpress a can of cheese whiz and kept his finger on the button as the amount of cheese the McAttack injected into the league was life threatning. McCoy would run over 3k in consective season and 2nd year rookie would prove to be a pain for many to stop. But I think its clear to all that Phil has thrived with this team, after being known as a person who would struggle to get the wins he turned things around and its quite clear his enjoyed his time with the Eagles. The highlight of his time would be the McAttack and the fact he got to the divisionals. Can he go that extra step, yeah he sure can.
When Pigs fly!
That includes the series I'm sorry for the delay with this article. I'll prob be back in a few weeks once the announcements are made of the Xpress of what is going to be the process of selecting teams to breakdown where I think particular teams will go.
But till then Take Care!
Hope you enjoyed the read guys turned out to be a preview mixed with a review which I hope you appreciated. The NFC section should be done within the next few days.
