The first report of the week sees Titans clash at the Gillette Stadium in week 9 with the Cowboys vying for the top spot in the NFC East and the undefeated Patriots looking to extend their lead in the one horse race that the AFC East has become.
Both defences had good games with two picks apiece, one of which the Pats managed to snag in the end zone to deny the Cowboys but it was the Patriots who managed to create most pressure in the battle of the trenches as they put the Cowboys QB Jake Taylor to the turf three times.Interceptions aside the rookie utilised his receiving assets well as threw for 254 yards to 8 different receivers with Mike Wallace the pick of the bunch with 8 catches for 105 yards and a TD.
Marshawn Lynch continued to prove that he was worth the Pats 1st & 2nd round picks with another impressive display featuring some bruising runs as he hit paydirt three times as he rushed for 157 yards from 22 carries.
Despite being 17-3 down at the half, the Cowboys orchestrated a second half comeback to tie up the game only for the Pats to get the go ahead score to leave the Cowboys just over a minute on the clock to force overtime. A hurry up drive culminated in an attempted pass to Beasley in the end zone which was defended by a resolute Pats D to seal the victory

At the half way point if the season the race to the playoffs is shaping up to be a very interesting proposition with three unbeaten teams in the ascendancy and an astonishing 7 teams, Tennessee and Miami among them, with three wins who will be looking to finish strongly to stake their claim on the wildcard spots.
Tennessee had a disastrous start with a Mettenberger pick on the very first play of the game as Dolphins corner Brent Grimes nabbed his first of two picks of the day which Jacquizz Rodgers capitalised on to open the scoring for the Dolphins. With the Titans driving well a huge Mettenberger sling was picked again by Grimes and history repeated itself as Rodgers converted the turnover into points as he benefitted from a combination of great blocking and poor tackling to take the ball into the end zone with a 95 yard dash. The Titans chipped a field goal late in the second quarter to go in at the half 14-3 down.
Miami opened the second half with a well-executed 83 yard pass Moore to Stills which left the men from Tennessee a mountain to climb but the Miami D gave Mettenberger very little time to execute as he finished the day with three picks. Sankey scored in the 4th to give the Titans hope but Moore sealed the victory with a pass to a wide open Kenny Stills.

Staying in the AFC and with two teams in the chasing pack for the wild card spots, the Bills got their third win of the season with a come from behind victory at home over the San Diego Chargers. A Kiko Alonso interception was converted by Knowshon Moreno but the Bills D seemed to go into hibernation in the second quarter as the Chargers put up 17 unanswered points to go in 17-10 up at the half.
The Bills D seemed to have slept through half time as they started the second half in the same soporific manner and they were unable to stop the Chargers driving in to red zone from the kick off but it was Alonso who came up with a game changing pick 6 as he just about managed to rumble into the end zone.
The momentum was now with the Bills and their D stopped the Chargers offense in its tracks and Moreno scored again to give the home side the lead but the Chargers rallied and converted and vital 4th down as Rivers led his team down the field into the Bills red zone as the Chargers looked to score to force the game into overtime only to see Bills safety Duke Williams pick the ball off in the end zone to deny the Chargers a win.

3 games to watch this week
(RamsDan, 8-0) @ (Beyond the Game, 5-3)
Having narrowly lost to the unbeaten Patriots in week 9, BTG follows up with a visit from the also undefeated Rams and their blitz-crazy pick party. With 40 sacks and 29 picks, it's easy to see why the Rams rarely lose but that's only half the story as their offence is also packed full of weapons. They will want to stay at the top of the NFC West ahead of the pursuing 49ers but will they be rusty as they come off a bye week? The Cowboys will be desperate for a win to keep pace with the Giants in the NFC East but will have to be flawless to do so.

Our next preview features two teams among the cluster of the 3-5 chasing pack facing some key games at a vital stage of the season; a run of wins could put them in contention for a wildcard place but just a couple more losses will consign their season to scrap heap. I expect this to be a very close, high scoring game with a lot of aerial yardage.
The Colts have lost some close games where victory would have then sitting pretty in a wild card spot in the AFC South and with Andrew Luck targetting the likes of Hakeem Nicks, Ty Hilton and Reggie Wayne the Broncos will have to be at the top of their game.
With the anticipated retirement of Peyton Manning just around the corner, Denver have persevered with Brock Osweiler pulling the strings which has meant a drop off in production from QB but the Broncos also have a potent receiving corps with Sanders and Thomas at wideout and Julius Thomas popping up from TE.
(Pacfish 5-3) @ (Zoos, 4-4)
Our fnal preview of the week is an intriguing prospect with Pac's Browns proving a dominant force atop the AFC North and Zoo's Cardinals languishing behind the twin powerhouses of the Rams and the 49ers in the NFC West.
At first glance, you would be mistaken for thinking that the Cardinals' season is over; 3 games behind the 49ers with some disappointing performances put in so far but look closer and there is reason for optimism; some very winnable games and two games against the 49ers, their closest divisioanl rivals, yet to play. If the Cardinals can put together a run of victories then they could find themselves in contention for a wildcard place.
As mentioned, the Browns are in control of the AFC North but with the Rams in week 11 and the 49ers in week 12 they have a very tough few weeks coming up in. Not only could losses could help their divisional rivals close the gap but conversely, victories would be a real boon to their week 10 adversaries.
This game could be the tipping point for both teams and has real significance for both their seasons. I expect a titanic battle with no quarter asked for or given.
