Week 8 Results
(OX ULTRA XO) 29-28 (Beyond The Game)
One of the fiercest rivalries in the Xpress Ultra v BTG for the 4 seasons the Xpress has been running these two teams have met each other in 3 of the Superbowls. Everyone knows Ultra has the advantage on BTG coming into this but this game was a classic cliffhanger till the death. This game came right down to the wire as the Saints defence stepped up but fell short as Ultra went to convert a key 4th down and then would go on to score to go 2 points behind. But would fail on the 2 point conversion, on the ensuing drive Brees would get sacked on a key 2nd down play and the Saints would be forced to throw it deep to Austin on 3rd down but Duke Williams would make the play to get the ball back for the Saints. The Bills aided by the ability of QB EJ Manuel who had key scrambles would drive themselves in FG range and would kick the game winner as time expired. Will these two met again though will be the question?
(Riverman) 49-46 (Steffrees)
It was only week 5 where these two met each other last with Eli breaking records and Cruz going crazy so we expected another offensive showdown. The first three quarters were dull in comparision then the 4th quarter happened where both teams combined for 35 points! Not to mention the game was a blinder David Wilson will run back 2 Kickoff return TDs, whilst Matt Barkley was close to perfection going 15/17 and 4 TDs. However it nearly all fell apart for Phil and the Eagles who were on their mission to take control over the East as Shady McCoy would fumble the ball thanks to a hit from Stevie Brown leaving the Giants with the chance to win with minutes left. But Eli would choke this time as he got picked by Cary Williams and Phil would take the win. After the game whispers were aplenty that the Giants were looking at the 1st Overall pick this was only met with delight by Phil who has their second and is now in control of the NFC East.
(Hubblewiffle) 35-42 (Governed Spy)
Believe it or not when his not trading hubble does actually play his games and he and Governed had a blinder this week. Hubble has been unlucky this season losing 5 games by less than a TD and sits at an undeserving 1-8. Whilst Spy was looking to bounce back from his loss to Joe in the previous week and to take control of the NFC West. These two weren’t afraid to air it out either combining for 750 yards in the AIR! This game came down to one player for the Rams though Tavon Austin who with the game on the line level scores with seconds remaining would return a kickoff 104 yards for a game winning TD. This reporter asked for a comment from hubble and was met with a question to his question “Fancy a Trade?”
Adrian Peterson meant business this week as he broke the record MJD stole from him running for 340 yards and 5 TDs against the Packers (someone stop this man!)
Trimmer continued his impressive rise up the ranks with a 52-31 win against Joe which was helped by Doug Martin running for 3 TDs and 186 Yards.
New Chiefs coach Matt gave Weeden plenty to worry about this week as Weeden threw 5 INTs against the Chiefs in a 41-21 win. Which featured Dunta Robinson returning a INT for 6.
Rumors of Sovoth having a 4th quarter heart-attack remain unfounded as he gave up 22 unanswered points in his game against Buncey and his bums fresh off the street.
Tom Brady leads the NFL with 28 TD’s closely followed by AFC rivals Locker, EJ Manuel and Rivers.
As The Chargers were on a bye week and Ben Watson was held in check Steffrees and the Giants took advantage of finding Cruz and Randle this week and they lead the league in receptions as a result with 45 & 42 receptions a piece.
The 6-1 Ravens lead the league in Turnover Differencial with a +16 with the Vikings and Bills close on their tails with 13 a piece.
The Bengals are looking closer by the week to breaking an long standing NFL record set back in the 60’s as Andy Dalton is now only 12 INTs away from breaking Blanda’s INT record. Can Dalton break the record of 42?
The Race for the rushing title is in the balance as Richardson holds a small lead with 1,152 yards and AP and McCoy are close on his tail.
Did you know the Cardinals have the best 3rd down conversion % in the league? They sure do and that is thank in large part to... you guess it Michael Floyd?? Yes Michael Floyd has been leading the way for the Cards with 36 Recs for 726 yards and 2 TD’s also rookie Half Back Christine Michael has been doing well to get across the line with 8 TDs to date. With such stats will ZoSo be the team to beat in the West?

3 games to watch this week
(Aje, 5-2) @ (RFC Buncey, 5-3)
Two teams that seem to be going opposite ways this season. The Vikings lead the league in Rushing TDs thanks to no part to AP and have the 4th best rushing attack and here they are matched up against The downward spiralling Cowboys. Buncey has had to deal with injuries and his starting to get some of his starters back now his defence is known for its pass rush with 26 sacks but is ranked in the middle of the road with stopping the run his going to need to be on top form here to stop AP. The Cowboys have lost 2 straight and will be looking to win this game as the Eagles are currently leading the division. However one thing to look at here; is how impressive the Vikings are at forcing turnovers. I think the Vikings get the win here and Buncey continues his downhill spiral.
(MixTrimmer, 5-2) @ (Hubblewiffle, 1-7)
This presents an interesting matchup this game on one side we have Mix ‘Yeah/BOSH’ Trimmer and on the other side we have Hubble ‘I like to trade wiffle’. These two are in opposite directions with Mix taking a lot of big players down such as Joe and BTG, whereas hubble has played strong throughout only to lose in close ones thanks to kickoff returns and INTs. The key in this game will be can hubble stop the run? Doug Martin has been key to the Bucs this season and has ran for over 850 yards and 12 TDs on the season. Conversely the Seahawks run defence has been the middle of the road this season ranking 15th in the league. Also the Seahawks defence has been really balanced this season and have been able to run and pass effectively, but the bad news is, so has the Bucs defence ranking 4th in total yards conceded. Something has to break here and it will be an interesting game to watch.
(McManus, 5-2) @ (Red Rhino, 4-3)
Leading up to this game we have heard all about this rivalry in the AFC South, forget about Evo this division is all about these two who will triumph at the end. McManus comes into this game in hot form winning 5 straight games, the Texans have been inconsistent but have been getting the business done against teams they are expected to beat. Both teams have been inconsistent with the pass with both having more INTs than TDs. The Texans are -11 on the Turnover diff and the Colts -4 so its clear thats where the game will be won.
Trade Deadline Roundup
What an emotional season it has been in the Xpress in terms of trades. There was a Grand Total of....... 69 Trades! Yes it was that bonkers but the last few days before the deadline passed were manic and left this writer wondering if only there was ONE DAY MORE!
There have been numerous trade attempts in the last 72 hours but only 2 trades made it through due to teams not investing in technology many were stuck with Faxes and we were left not being able to get the trades processed in time. This writer has already started making sure that we have upgraded from our regular carrier pigeons to this thing call e-mail.
Although some trades didn’t make it through such as the Butler trade & Wagner trade a few did Charles Tillman joined the Cowboys in another big move from Lord Buncey
Whilst Sovoth upgraded his WR core with the addition of Andre Roberts.
However the most important stat of this article is left till the bitter end I’ve gone through each of the trades conducted this season and have produced the following board to chart the top 10 Traders lets count them down.
10. Chicago Bears – 6 Trades
9. San Francisco 49ers – 6 Trades
8. Dallas Cowboys – 7 Trades
7. Indinapolis Colts – 8 Trades
6. Detroit Lions – 8 Trades
5. Phillidelphia Eagles – 8 Trades
4. Cleveland Browns -8 Trades
3. Oakland Raiders – 9 Trades
2. Seattle Seahawks – 14 Trades
And the team with the most trades this year isn’t Hubble but yours Truly.......New Orleans Saints – 15 Trades!
Now that the deadline has passed I guess we should play some games now huh? But before I leave I would like to pass a warm thanks to Commish Joe who has had to put up with us during this period and approving all 69 Trades its hard work. Thanks Joe
